Uniform

Totterdown Preschool uniform consists of a green logoed sweatshirt for winter and a logoed polo shirt for summer. Children are welcome to wear comfortable bottoms and shoes of their own discretion (that are suitable for getting dirty and moving around in). Open-toed sandals,heeled-shoes and boots are not suitable.

In the Moment Planning

Our preschool follows an 'In the moment’ planning child-centred approach; which encourages children’s natural desire to explore and learn. It’s about letting the children choose what to do, while adults join them in their play, observe what children do and support their development at the time of children playing. We provided an enabling environment, rich in natural everyday resources available to the children at all times. Each term we have an observation cycle whereby we have focus children, who we observe, teach and carry out next steps for. An observation is written at the time, which includes what the child was doing, how the adult supported their learning and the outcome of the engagement. We encourage parents to be a part of this journey, with providing relevant information which we also use, followed by a parent meeting to discuss how the focus week has been, what next steps have been achieved and what the children have been working on, all relevant to individual needs.
